First sneak peek for Psycho Starship Rampage OST
Finally, it’s time to show you folks some action!
Work has been going on for some time behind the scenes on Psycho Starship Rampage, the shoot them up – slash – rogue-like under development by indie game studio Ballistic Frogs. The game draws its roots on the shmups of old, but upgraded with 21th century expectations when it comes to refinement, gameplay, innovation and performance – there are never-before seen mechanics in that game – and no, that’s not an empty promise, there really is new and elegant stuff in there. Well, at least that’s stuff I never saw used elsewhere in that manner, and I’m quite an avid gamer, heh. 🙂
Of course, this translates to the sound. I am clearly endeavoring to put the soundtrack in line with the golden age of electronic music in the 80’s and 90’s, but with modern sounds and effects. Some kind of “neo-retro gaming” if you like, to put the player in a familiar setting, a cultural heritage I’m proud to draw on, but with much more freedom on composition, texture and orchestration.
I have a few extracts of the tracks I’m working on set up for your pleasure, which I’ll be revealing progressively on Soundclound. Please remember this all work in progress!
So, here are about 20 seconds of the first track, called Hero, Really? (or BGM#1 – background music one, but that’s much less sexy). I can’t and won’t show more at the moment, first because this is, as I said, a work in progress, second because the game is still under heavy development and we don’t want to reveal too much too quickly.
Hope you enjoy!
